J.J. Ehlers is running unopposed for Park City School Board in District 4. J.J. grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma as Jennifer Haley, and has a BS in Math and Computer Science and an MS in Computer Science from the University of Tulsa. She worked for Amoco Oil Company in both Tulsa and Naperville, IL in Computer Graphics and then after marrying Rich Ehlers in 1980 came to Utah to work for Evans and Sutherland. They moved to Park City in October 1993 after their first child Haley was born. J.J. got bored on maternity leave, so went house shopping. After their 2^nd child was born in 1996 with major heart defects, they made the decision that she should stay home. Although cooking and cleaning wasn’t really in J.J.’s wheelhouse, she did find that she enjoyed being a stay at home mom that was never home much more than anyone ever would have guessed. J.J. quickly became active in the community, both in her church, Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church and the school district. She held numerous positions and chaired multiple committees at the PTOs at all levels and served on Community Councils at 3 schools. She also job shared the position as the Education Technology Specialist at Jeremy Ranch for 3 ½ years. In spring/summer of 2011 Rich was diagnosed with stage 4 Kidney cancer and passed away in January, 2012, leaving J.J. a single mom to Haley, a freshman at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Jaron, a Freshman at Treasure Mountain. J.J. went to work full time with the US Ski and Snowboard Association, and that is where she currently works today.
