Sam Sheridan graduated from high school and went into the US Merchant Marine, where he washed dishes on the USNS Able. From there it was a short step to Harvard University and the Slade School in London, where he studied painting. Sam has worked a variety of jobs, including as a professional sailor (he has circumnavigated the globe), a wild-land firefighter/EMT in New Mexico with the Gila Hotshots, a ranch-hand on the largest cattle ranch in Montana, and construction at the South Pole Station in Antarctica. During this time Sam boxed and studied martial arts.
His first book, “A Fighter’s Heart,” was a memoir of Sam’s experiences in the fight world, in Thailand, Japan, the US and Brazil, where he fought alongside and trained with some of the best in the world. His second book, “The Fighter’s Mind,” is a collection of essays on the mental strategies that great champions use in the ring and the cage. His third book, published by Penguin, is called “The Disaster Diaries” and is a memoir of learning the skills to survive the End of the World.
Sam played himself in the movie “Warrior,” and had a recurring role on The Discovery Channel’s “Mankind: The Story of Us” and starred in the National Geographic Documentary “Muay Thai: A Fighting Chance.”
Sam created and Executive Produced the TNT miniseries “I Am The Night” which starred Chris Pine and was directed by Patty Jenkins.
Most recently, Sam hosted "Atlas of Cursed Places" for National Geographic.
