Subject: Re: LSDM speaker - Thia Thursday am?

Steve (thank you Phoebe), yes, we met several years ago and I now happen to be involved with an AI VC group that is comprised of mostly MIT people out of Denver.  We're going to be meeting with some people in Utah on this Wednesday.

If you would have Neville and me at your 7 am Bagel meeting, the
AI topics that Neville Teagarden (his bio attached) would cover, include his perspective on where AI, in particular what he calls applied AI, is in its development and application right now.

I think what would be of high interest is one of the companies our company has invested in who has worked with Ernst & Young to determine a GAAP
Compliant approach to assigning a balance sheet value to data, particularly customer and other data that a company may have that heretofore has not been an asset that can be placed on a company balance sheet.

The publicity and practice of this is just starting, and I can provide a link to a legal briefing on it from Ropes & Gray, the top tier law firm.

The second interesting thing is the way this AI company has been collecting patient data for what had become one of the more valuable data sets that AI companies will seek, particularly companies that want to potentially do virtual FDA trials with patient data that has been sanitized, that is, with no identifiers to people, but which is cross-tabbed with genomics.  AI will make thia data enormously valuable and many people think this will be a huge move forward in drug discovery and drug treatments for things like cancer.  This particular company has already amassed over 27 million patient records around the world, diversified by gender and race, and the company, led by another MIT AI grad, started this 3 years ago before much of this was on the radar screen at all.

Neville was a student back when at MIT with Marvin Minsky as his prof and mentor.  Prof. Minsky is considered to be the father of AI. (See Marvin Minsky, Pioneer in Artificial Intelligence, https://nyti.ms/1lM1rkl).  Neville, therefore, has much more than a Johnny-come-lately view about artificial intelligence.

The idea is to give your folks some insight as to what's going on in AI and some new things that probably nobody is aware of. We totally understand this is not about doing an investment pitch so don't worry about that.

I'll be there, I can also throw in a few words, anecdotes about how I just successfully took a very interesting scientific compound company public on NASDAQ a few weeks ago through a SPAC.  I could tell you a lot about the current state of the SEC and what I had to deal with as Chair of the Audit committee of a public company under the current SEC Chair Genslar!

We will be staying up in Park City Wednesday night so Thursday am early would work perfectly if you would tell where to be at what time

Many thanks in advance,

Meet Gene. He would be a good speaker for your LSDM group especially relating to AI investing most recently. He is a former Warburg Pincus Partner and Wasatch board member. I will let him propose a speaking topic etc..,  But he is involved in many things.

I don’t know what your speaker docket looks like but he could do something as soon as Thursday.
